The Mississippi Highway Patrol’s Bureau of Investigation is investigating two, separate shootings that occurred along north Mississippi highways.
“There are some similarities between the two incidents, mainly the fact they happened alongside a Mississippi highway,” said MBI Director Lt. Col. Larry Waggoner. “The concern is that someone is posing as a law enforcement officer and that is how these vehicles end up on the side of the road.”
Tuesday, May 8th, Thomas K. Schlender, 74, of Raymond, Nebraska was found in his car in the median of southbound Interstate 55 shortly after 1:30 a.m. Friday, May 11th, Lori Anne Carswell, 48, of Hernando was found in her car on the shoulder of MS 713 about 2:15 a.m. Friday morning. Schlender’s car was found near the Pope exit of Interstate 55 in Panola County and Carswell’s car was located in Tunica County near the intersection of MS713 and Interstate 69.
