MSU landscape design event set for Oct. 16

> MISSISSIPPI STATE — People eager to learn about new plants and how to deal with challenging conditions can hear from experts at Mississippi State University’s annual landscape design event Oct. 16.

> The 58th Edward C. Martin Jr. Landscape Design Symposium features three speakers, who will address practical topics:

> • Keynote speaker Mary Palmer Dargan, member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, practicing landscape architect and noted author, will present a lecture titled “Lifelong Landscape Design: Environments for Health and Longevity.”
>
> • Pat Drackett, director of the MSU Extension Service’s Crosby Arboretum in Picayune will present “Simple Solutions for Challenging Landscapes” to help gardeners solve existing problems.
>
> • Bob Brzuszek, MSU associate Extension professor of landscape architecture, will deliver an illustrated lecture on new plant varieties, “Great New Plants to Use and Abuse.”
>
> The symposium will be at the Bost Extension Center theater from 9 a.m. to noon.
>
