National Funeral Home: Funding of Funeral Home Clients Received

> Grenada, Miss.— The Estate of Carl Latham has fully funded pre-purchased sales of funeral goods and services of National Funeral Home located in Grenada, Mississippi.

> On Friday, January 22, 2016, the Secretary of State’s Office received confirmation of the funding from the trust services company utilized by the funeral home. Mr. Latham’s estate deposited $367,193.12 in trust on behalf of eighty-six (86) clients who purchased pre-need funeral goods and services from the funeral home. This funding makes whole all of the pre-need clients of National Funeral Home known to the Secretary of State’s Office.

> A pre-need purchase, sometimes referred to as a pre-planned or pre-arranged funeral, is any purchase of funeral goods and services made by the living to be provided at the time of death.
> Funeral homes are required to pay into a trust money collected from consumers who pre-pay for funeral goods and services (Miss. Code Ann. § 75-63-59) or offer insurance plans to cover these expenses (Miss. Code Ann. § 75-63-61).

> The Secretary of State’s Office will contact all affected clients of National Funeral Home with documentation of their funding. In the meantime, clients who pre-purchased funeral goods and services may contact the Secretary of State’s Office at 601-359-9055 with any questions or concerns.
