East Central baseball swept on the road by Hinds

> The East Central Community College baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Hinds Community College Tuesday, March 29, after losing late-inning leads in both games played at Smith-Wills Stadium in Jackson.

> East Central lost game one 7-6 after Hinds scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, and the Diamond Warriors could not hold on to a one-run lead when Hinds scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 4-2 win in the nightcap.
>
> The MACJC action dropped the Diamond Warriors overall record to 19-11 and 7-5 in the conference. Hinds improved to 13-13 overall and 5-5 in the conference.
>
> In game one, the lead changed hands five times before the Eagles were able to take the final lead with the two-run eighth.
>
> After falling behind early, ECCC was able to gain a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning. The Hinds Eagles then put up four runs in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead. ECCC managed to score four runs of their own in the seventh to take a 6-5 lead, but were unable to hold on in the eighth.
>
> Sophomore Reagan Warren from Newton County High School and freshman Cole Prestegard from Huntsville (Ala.) High School racked up two RBI each for the Diamond Warriors.
>
> In game two, ECCC trailed 1-0 until the sixth when the Diamond Warriors put up two runs to take the 2-1 lead before Hinds’ three-run bottom of the sixth. Freshman Brandon Clark out of Neshoba Central High School managed two of East Central’s three hits in game two.

> East Central heads to Mississippi Delta Community College for MACJC action in Moorhead Saturday, April 2, at 1 p.m. ECCC will then return home to face Copiah-Lincoln Community College Tuesday, April 5, for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
